9/28  A exhibition by Martha Colburn opened tonight at the Horton Gallery on Christie Street in Chinatown. Martha makes stop motion animated films using photography, puppets, paint, collage, hinged figures and all sorts of media with a surreal and violent aesthetic which is highly politicized and bristling with energy. The exhibit exposes her working processes, displaying many of the set pieces she has shot to make her films.
