8/16/13 Jacob Kirkegaard, in town for the Soundings exhibit at MOMA, presented his piece Labyrinthitus at Eyebeam in NY. The piece is based on otoacoustic transmissions from his ear, which, when played back at a ratio of 1:1.2, produce a third tone on the ear of the listener. He also released a version of this recently on an album entitled Conversion (Touch) arranged for acoustic instruments and played by chamber group Scenatet. Two nights later, 8/18, at Silent Barn, Jacob presented an iteration of Eldfjall, consisting of atmospheric and dramatic field recordings of seismic activity in Iceland. Lesley Flanigan also performed this night, with her sublime controlled feedback and voice compositions.
